HOME EXHIBITION

Home. Different journeys, one life, is an exhibition of portraits and biographies at Limelight, a purpose built development in Old Trafford that consists of Extra Care apartments plus a whole range of community services.

2018 was the 70th Anniversary of the arrival of the SS Empire Windrush. The Old Trafford community’s cultural heritage has been shaped by the pioneering Windrush generation and as part of Black History Month, Limelight celebrated the history of immigration into the UK with personal memories and portraits of their residents.

The exhibition is displayed all around the ground floor of Limelight along with portrait photography by Rik Jundi. Despite there being a lot text to be included, the exhibition setting also houses a Cafe, Library, meeting rooms and access to other services, so has a large footfall and areas where people will be for longer periods of time.

The design was kept simple and unintrusive to allow the honest and often moving stories to come to the fore.
