THE WOMEN WHO SAID YES EXHIBITION

The Women Who Said Yes! is an exhibition that showed at People’s History Museum, Manchester as part of the 100-year anniversary of the Representation of the People Act, which first gave some women the right to vote

This was followed by the Parliament Qualification of Women Act, emergency legislation which would allow women to stand for the first time in the post-war election.

The exhibition tells the stories of the first women who stood for parliament in the 1918 elections, many of whose stories have been largely forgotten. Researched and written by a group of dedicated local researchers and historians, the women’s stories are gaining a wider audience including national press.

The design was created using simple period design features together with politically associated colours to be more recognisable to a modern audience.

Exhibition panels, exhibition activity sheet, banner and flyer design.
